I didn't know he had horns until the very end of the book which threw off my mental picture of him. Only thing that bugged me was the world building and descriptions of the hero. She also didnt fight the attraction to the hero and was confident in her sexuality. Wasnt a cowering mess and had a level head about everything. The heroine definitely added to the 5 star rating. The author left their pasts very vague but the heroine for sure had more sexual experience than the hero! *Finally* Completely devoted to the heroine in every way, no pushing away, and he had minimal sexual experience if any at all. And let me tell ya, the hero was amazing. I always find it a bit funny that I need to read a syfy/alien romance book to get a decent hero. The perfect blend of sensual, entertaining and sexy. This was exactly what I needed, and I read the whole thing in one sitting and already onto the next one. ![]() Is there anything better than finding a book that gets you out of that book slump? ![]() ![]() ![]() She ended up with Maddie’s identification papers before she got captured and their plane was found crashed in a cornfield, so her retelling is also her tribute to Maddie as she grieves her death. Brief Summary of Book: The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World by Iain McGilchrist ![]() ![]() Now for the world building, or the whole plot, really. "All those times that I felt things for Bree, anytime there was even the slightest feeling of affection growing, I'd brushed it aside for Emma" As if this made him such a gentleman, someone who dances in fidelity's good graces. If only his behaviour would at least improve, but as the story progresses he only gets more annoying: thinking he's much better than he is (he's pretty full of himself) making demands when he's trapped in a risky situation with people who would-and want to-kill him (toopid) or saying things like: Still, I expected to come to understand him by the end. Thus it did not come as a shock when I didn't find myself in love with him. I was forewarned from other readers, though, so I knew to expect a douche who hits girls (he punches ones several times in the opening chapter), and is overall an arse. Unfortunately with an insufferable protagonist, the world building and plot were all that this book had left, and after seeing the halfway mark come and go, I realized that in both of these aspects it was beginning to fail miserably-and it didn't stop. It has such a unique premise with a super intriguing world that could have been awesome had it been executed much better. ![]() Such a shame especially that up until almost halfway I would have given this book a good 3 stars. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The last is what makes this series so special.
